# Create a new storage unit

POST https://api.americancloud.com/api/v1/object-storage/units
Content-Type: application/json

Creates a new object storage unit for the authenticated account and returns it. The returned storageUnitId identifies the unit in all other object storage requests. To preview pricing without creating anything, use POST /object-storage/units/cost-estimate.

- `limitKb` (double, optional, nullable) — Total storage allowed on the storage unit, in kilobytes. Null means no limit (unlimited).

## Errors

- `errors` (list of ValidationErrorItemDto, optional) — Per-field validation details. Present on 400 responses produced by request-body validation; omitted otherwise.
- `snapshots` (list of BlockingSnapshotDto, optional) — The snapshots that block a delete. Present on a 409 whose `code` is `volume_has_snapshots`; omitted otherwise.

### 401 Unauthorized Error

Authentication credentials were missing or invalid.
