Looking for a Hetzner alternative?

Hetzner's US locations are a different deal: since June 15, 2026, a new dedicated 2 vCPU server in Ashburn costs $50.99 a month, up from $19.99, with 1 TB of traffic where Europe gets 20 TB. We're a US cloud that runs your Kubernetes and databases, doesn't meter traffic, and answers support requests in a median of under 2 minutes.

Here's who each one suits if your team and your users are in the US, starting with us.

  • American Cloud

US teams who'd rather not run their own Kubernetes and databases, and who want object storage next to their servers, no traffic meter, and a fast human answer when something breaks.

  • DigitalOcean

Developers and small teams that want simple virtual servers. We compare it with American Cloud line by line on its own page.

  • Vultr

Teams that need servers in many countries. Vultr lists 33 cloud data center regions and also rents bare metal.

  • Akamai Cloud (Linode)

Teams already using Akamai's network. Linode is now part of Akamai Cloud.

  • AWS

Teams that need hundreds of managed services, in regions worldwide. We price the same production stack on both, on a page of its own.

What changes when a US team moves off Hetzner

Chat with a person, on every account

Hetzner's cloud customers open a ticket, and its team in Germany handles it. Hetzner says ticket support for cloud products is available around the clock. Billing and general questions get answered in its office hours, which on a US weekday run from 2 a.m. to noon in Virginia and 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. in Oregon. Here, every account gets chat in the console and tickets, and our median reply is under 2 minutes. Capterra reviewers rate our customer service 4.7 out of 5.

Kubernetes and Postgres you don't run yourself

Hetzner Cloud's docs list no managed Kubernetes and no managed database. You build the cluster from Hetzner's cloud controller manager and CSI driver, and you run PostgreSQL on a server you patch and back up. That works fine until the person who set it up goes on vacation. Here, we run the cluster's control nodes, and the first one is free. We also run PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis for you, in the US next to your servers.

Everything in the US, storage included

Hetzner's Object Storage runs only in Europe, so a US app on Hetzner keeps its buckets across the Atlantic. Its US servers can't share a private network or a load balancer with anything in Europe either, and traffic between the two is billed as internet traffic. Here, VMs, Kubernetes, databases and S3-compatible object storage run in our US zones, with no transfer fees on any of it.

A bill that doesn't follow your traffic

Hetzner's US servers come with a traffic allowance, and every TB past it goes on the bill, so the month your app takes off is the month the bill does too. We don't meter traffic on servers, Kubernetes, object storage or the load balancer. Your bill moves when you add servers or storage, not when your users show up.

Moving from Hetzner

There's no importer for Hetzner servers, and the move doesn't need one. Build the same servers here, copy the data across while Hetzner keeps serving, then switch DNS. You end up on clean servers, not copies of old disks.

  • Cloud servers become VMs here. Set your software up again and copy files with rsync, once while the Hetzner server keeps serving traffic and once more, briefly, at cutover.
  • Volumes become block storage volumes, and you copy the data across.
  • Object Storage buckets copy to our S3-compatible storage with rclone, straight from Hetzner's endpoint.
  • Recreate your firewall rules, DNS zones and load balancers here, with the new servers behind them. Then switch DNS.
  • For Kubernetes workloads you ran on Hetzner servers, apply the same manifests to a managed cluster here.
  • PostgreSQL or MySQL you ran yourself moves with pg_dump or mysqldump into our managed PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Price the new servers in the pricing calculator, or read about Cloud Compute, Kubernetes and Object Storage. Before you switch DNS, run your domain through our free DNS lookup and save its records and TTLs. Run it again after the switch to see when Cloudflare and Google return the new address.

Questions before you switch

How much did Hetzner raise its US server prices in June 2026?

For new servers and resizes from June 15, 2026, Hetzner's US server prices more than doubled. In Ashburn and Hillsboro a CCX13 (2 dedicated vCPUs, 8 GB) went from $19.99 to $50.99 a month and a CCX23 from $39.99 to $102.99, before tax and the IPv4 address. A server ordered before June 15 keeps its old price until it's resized, restored after deletion or moved to a project in another currency.

Is American Cloud cheaper than Hetzner?

Yes, for a dedicated 2 vCPU server in the US, in two cases. If 4 GB of RAM is enough, ours is $42.56 a month with a public IP, and Hetzner's smallest dedicated plan, the 8 GB CCX13, is $51.59. At 8 GB, ours is $66 with no traffic charge. Hetzner's $51.59 includes 1 TB and charges $1.20 per TB after that, so past about 13 TB a month Hetzner costs more, and at 20 TB it's $74.39.

Does Hetzner have data centers in the US?

Yes, two: Ashburn, Virginia, and Hillsboro, Oregon, in colocation space it rents. Hetzner's own data centers are in Germany and Finland. The US locations sell cloud servers only: no dedicated root servers, no Object Storage, and not the shared CX or Arm CAX lines. All of American Cloud runs in three US zones: us-west-0, us-west-1 and us-central-0.

How hard is it to switch from Hetzner?

Most of it is copying, and your users stay on Hetzner until the last step. You rebuild the servers here, copy files, buckets and databases across, re-apply your Kubernetes manifests and move DNS. Keep the Hetzner server until you're sure, so going back is one DNS change. Your AI assistant can set up the new servers through our MCP server.
